Not only does the logo bear clear stylistic similarities, but the production, songwriting, and overall occult-ritualistic aura all seem to point in that direction.
This association is hardly unfounded. Both Moenen of Xezbeth and Perversion Ceremony have previously released material through Nuclear War Now!, a label renowned for its dedication to uncompromising, obscure, and spiritually charged forms of extreme metal. As such, it is not difficult to imagine personnel connections, shared influences, or at the very least a close kinship within the same Belgian underground scene.
Whether this is truly a new project involving familiar names or simply the work of kindred spirits sharing a similar artistic vision remains to be seen. For now, the identity behind this release remains shrouded in mystery. One thing is certain, however: devotees of the dark and occult Belgian school of Black Metal will feel right at home here.
But enough speculation about the individuals behind the release. Ultimately, it is the music that matters, and the music speaks for itself. The four tracks presented here, including a cover of the Swedish cult band Pagan Rites, evoke strong memories of the earliest works of Samael, Pagan Rites, and Goatlord. Do not expect technical fireworks or elaborate arrangements; instead, what is offered is slow, crawling Black Metal built upon atmosphere, repetition, and a nearly hypnotic sense of simplicity.
The compositions are deliberately primitive and stripped of unnecessary embellishments. Monotonous riffs, lumbering rhythms, and a raw production form the foundation of a sound that feels more ominous than aggressive. While many modern bands strive for complexity and constant variation, this release embraces simplicity and austerity without hesitation. It is precisely this approach that becomes its greatest strength: the songs gradually weave a suffocating atmosphere that draws the listener ever deeper into darkness.
This style will certainly not appeal to everyone. Those seeking technical proficiency or innovation will find little of either here. However, listeners who appreciate the old-school ethos, where feeling, atmosphere, and conviction outweigh technical perfection, will find much to admire in this uncompromising tribute to the primitive roots of Black Metal.

Concrete informatie over de bezetting of achtergrond van dit project is nauwelijks te vinden, wat natuurlijk perfect past binnen de mysterieuze en esoterische traditie die veel hedendaagse underground Black Metal- en Death Metal-acts omringt. Toch zullen oplettende luisteraars al snel enkele opvallende overeenkomsten herkennen.
Zo ademt het geheel een sfeer die sterk doet denken aan het kamp rond Moenen of Xezbeth en vooral Perversion Ceremony. Niet alleen het logo vertoont duidelijke stilistische gelijkenissen, ook de productie, composities en de algemene occult-ritualistische uitstraling wijzen nadrukkelijk in die richting.
Die associatie is bovendien niet uit de lucht gegrepen. Zowel Moenen of Xezbeth als Perversion Ceremony hebben in het verleden immers al releases uitgebracht via Nuclear War Now!, een label dat bekendstaat om zijn voorkeur voor compromisloze, obscure en spiritueel geladen extreme metal. Daardoor lijkt het niet ondenkbaar dat er personele banden, gedeelde invloeden of op zijn minst een nauwe verwantschap binnen dezelfde Belgische undergroundscene bestaan.
Of het hier daadwerkelijk om een nieuw project van bekende namen gaat, of simpelweg om geestverwanten die dezelfde artistieke visie delen, zal de tijd moeten uitwijzen. Voorlopig blijft de identiteit achter deze release gehuld in nevelen, maar één ding is zeker: liefhebbers van de duistere Belgische school van occulte Black Metal zullen zich hier onmiddellijk thuis voelen.
Maar genoeg gegis over de identiteit achter deze release. Uiteindelijk draait het om de muziek, en die spreekt voor zich. De vier nummers, waaronder een cover van de Zweedse Cultband Pagan Rites, die hier worden gepresenteerd roepen sterke herinneringen op aan het vroege werk van Samael, Pagan Rites en Goatlord. Verwacht geen technische hoogstandjes of overdadige arrangementen, maar trage, slepende Black Metal die volledig leunt op sfeer, herhaling en een haast hypnotiserende eenvoud.
De composities zijn bewust primitief gehouden en ontdaan van overbodige franjes. Monotone riffs, logge ritmes en een rauwe productie vormen de basis van een geluid dat eerder dreigend dan agressief aanvoelt. Waar veel moderne bands complexiteit en dynamiek opzoeken, kiest deze release resoluut voor eenvoud en soberheid. Juist daarin schuilt haar kracht: de nummers bouwen langzaam maar gestaag een beklemmende atmosfeer op die de luisteraar steeds dieper de duisternis in trekt.
Deze aanpak zal niet bij iedereen in de smaak vallen. Wie op zoek is naar virtuositeit of vernieuwingsdrang zal hier weinig vinden. Liefhebbers van de oude school, waarin gevoel en sfeer belangrijker zijn dan technische perfectie, zullen echter veel waardering kunnen opbrengen voor deze compromisloze ode aan de primitieve oorsprong van het genre.
