Amid ritualistic murmuring, label Wolfkult Religion etched the result onto a mere 150 copies of vinyl: 50 in transparent blue, the rest jet black.
The name Necromantic Worship will undoubtedly ring a bell among underground devotees. The Maastricht-based band has been active since 2015 and, after a number of demos and a split, finally released their first full-length in 2025. Their signature sound is steeped in occult, ritualistic black metal, clearly indebted to the Hellenic scene of the ’90s. In a mid-tempo, dragging cadence, a ceremonial whole unfolds through hypnotic, repetitive riffs, while subtle organ use further deepens the sacramental atmosphere. The sound is heavy and driving, with a prominent, overdriven bass laying the foundation. The composition remains engaging through variation and a recurring main riff that burrows into the listener’s mind. Classic song structures are used effectively, while the incantatory vocals sit firmly in the mix. The track closes with chaotic, Slayer-esque solo mayhem, serving as a fitting explosive finale.
