Yearlist 2025 Peter (Consanguineus)

When I decided back in February to start a magazine alongside Merg & Been, I never imagined we would grow this quickly. Now, ten months later, we’ve already reached several milestones. This year, two physical magazines have been released, featuring re-publications of our interviews. And with this edition, The Medieval Hagiography (which I originally created back in 1992), the dream of a truly “professional” underground magazine has finally become reality.

Throughout the year, we also welcomed new members to the team. Two writers joined our ranks: first Daan, and shortly after, Don. Together, we’ve managed to present you with an exciting album or band almost every single day, give or take a few exceptions.

So here is my Top Ten of 2025:

  1. Illusive Key – Consume Us

09. Darvaza – We Are Him

08. Nyredolk – Barnhommens Hjem

07. Oath of Malignancy – Sabbath Witchcraft

06. Bacht’n de Vulle Moane – Klaagrituelen

05 Teitanblood – From the Vesceral Abyss

04. Vollmondprozession – Lazarus

03. Wolvennest – Procession

02. Necromantic Worship – Necromantic Worship

01. Zeicrydeus – La Grand Heresie

This was the album that opened my eyes this year, the Greek influences, the Heavy Metal parts, the logo and the amazing artwork. Not an album for everybody but that does not matter, it was an album for me. I am preparing an interview with Zeicrydeus as we speak, you will see that next year.

My gratitude goes out to all the labels and bands who have placed their trust in us over the past ten months. You’ve allowed us to translate your music into words as objectively and respectfully as possible. It’s not always a perfect 10, but overall, everyone receives the fair and honest review they deserve.

And if you’re now thinking, “Writing about music seems like something I’d love to do as well,” then don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re always happy to welcome new people who want to contribute or think along with us. The more voices we have, the stronger our presence becomes in the underground.
