Once, long ago, there was a band in the Lowlands named Funeral Goat. This dark entity, rooted deep within the orthodox Black Metal tradition, conjured ritualistic and raw music that immersed the listener in an atmosphere of incantation and spiritual dissolution. But in 2013, the members chose to cast off their name — and with it, a layer of their skin. From the ashes of Funeral Goat arose Ibex Angel Order, a reborn force with a renewed mission: deeper, further, and more esoteric than ever before.
In 2015, their first full-length under this new moniker appeared: the album simply titled “I”. A massive, trance-like exploration of the inner flame, built upon lengthy compositions, hypnotic rhythms, and vocals that resembled ritual chants more than conventional lyrics. The album instantly established Ibex Angel Order’s reputation as more than just a musical act — it was a path, a spiritual undertaking of self-deconstruction and mystical rebirth. And then… silence. At least in terms of studio recordings.
But true silence never came. In the years that followed, Ibex Angel Order took to the stage multiple times and appeared on a compilation alongside kindred spirits like Chalice of Blood and Arfsynd. A 10” EP was released — a distant echo from the depths, a faint pulse for those still listening. Yet a true successor to their monolithic debut remained absent. A long, grinding void of nearly a decade.
Until now.
In 2025, the veil finally lifts. Through the Dutch label Void Wanderer Productions, Ibex Angel Order unveils “II – Void Sermon”, the long-awaited continuation and next chapter in their dark liturgy. A title that leaves nothing to chance: Void Sermon — a sermon from the void, a message from the abyss, delivered unto those brave enough to behold the inner vacuum.
What follows are dark, seemingly simple compositions — yet drenched in atmosphere and purpose. Precisely what Black Metal is meant to be. In this regard, Ibex Angel Order stands among the true masters.
This is not about technical bravado or speed for the sake of speed.
This is ritual. Trance. Invocation. Each chord and every pulse functions as a shadow-spell, a lure into the unknown.
Tracks such as “Shadow Weaver” and “Archons Dethroned” exemplify this perfectly. They do not bludgeon, they pull — downward, inward. Away from the surface and into the dark. Not with violence, but with an undercurrent of possession. A ritual flow that draws you into a world where light has no meaning, where reality erodes, and where only confrontation with the inner self remains.
This music does not ask for attention; it claims it. What follows is surrender. Lost time. Dizziness of spirit. And precisely there — at the point of no return — reveals itself the true power of Ibex Angel Order.
